Fresh Cuts: August 5-11

Every once and awhile you need to stop and smell the flowers--or at least play around with them a little like I did yesterday.  The grandson of a dear friend married his sweetheart and I got to make the bride's bouquet.

Sage, matricaria, clematis, gooseneck, scabiosa, phlox and Austin Rose

Misty's beautiful bouquet--my best ever!
Me, Howard and Velia
We took a trip to "little Italy"--in Pingree, home to a small community of Italians who immigrated in the 1950s.  (Also where RT was born and raised.)  Velia is like the mother I always wanted, she's Italian and she cooks!  We work with Velia and her extended family every November, making tons of pasta for the annual Holiday sale.  I traveled to Italy and Velia's home village years ago and now we are part of the family.  Velia's grandson, Ben, married his childhood sweetheart Friday and we got to share in the fun.

Ben and Misty have been planning and creating this wedding over the past year.  It was absolutely charming.  You could see their hands in everything--except Misty's bouquet.  I got to do that!
Guests were asked to stand here and have their photos taken for the guest book.

Almonds are a classic at every Italian wedding.

Ben and Misty made practically everything for this wedding.
