What's Fresh May 7, 2012

We bid a sad farewell to the ranunculus this week, as the days lengthen the ranunculus begin to shut down but the daffodils are prime this week.  Cool nights and cloudy days, the perfect weather for daffodils.

We are featuring Tahiti daffodils, double flower heads three inches in diameter on 10-12 inch stems, beautifully fragrant.

They are the ballerinas of the field in fluffy yellow tutus.

Bridal Crown, another specialty daffodil, very fragrant multiple flowers on 8 inch stems.  Like a handful of sweet popcorn.

We also have Icelandic Poppies in mixed colored bunches, white, yellow, orange and coral.

We are harvesting Lilac, most of our lilacs have double blossoms.

Chantilly Pink Snaps
New this week, Chantilly snaps in pink and yellow.  These snaps are phenomenal!  They look like pink and yellow delphinium stems, they are huge.  I am absolutely in love with these guys.

Chantilly Yellow Snaps

White Snaps

Our Opus White Snaps are starting this week, fragrant clear white on generous stems.

Muscari, aka grape hyacinths, fresh harvest this week.

Lavender Sweet Peas are blooming like crazy.

We are harvesting Thermopsis daily, our first perennial field bloom.  It looks like yellow lupine, but is actually in from the pea family.

We have Tulips...lots and lots of tulips.

After a twelve year absence, Bindweed is returning to the Portneuf Valley Farmer's Market  in Pocatello on Saturday.  We will have fresh flowers and tulip bulbs for sale.  Please stop by and see us.
