Fresh Cuts April 8

A warm spring = two busy farmers

We have had a week of warm beautiful, very unusual spring weather and things are really happening here.  Between harvesting tulips, hyacinths and poppies, we have been planting, pruning, shoveling and running the tractor.

This is the first flower to open on the farm outside the greenhouse.

Last fall I planted several plots of crocus and they are just now poking through.  Each day a few more blooms emerge.

The fields are actually dry enough to work.  RT is using the rotovator to work organic matter into the soil.

The newly worked soil looks like brownie mix, not that I ever use the stuff, I'm just saying.

We planted sweet peas for July in the two rows on the right and left of this shot.  This is the shade house, without the shade cloth on.

A beautiful shipment of scented geraniums arrived this week.  They are settled nicely and already thriving in the greenhouse.

The second wave of hyacinths are exploding.  A perfect harvest, bulb and all.

We have a rainbow of mix of blue, pink and yellow.

And of course we have tulips.  Big Smile is on the left and Blushing Apeldoorn is the golden beauty in the center and foreground.

We also have Temple of Beauty--this tulip opens into lily points and deepens to a deep pink coral.

We also have orange, mango and hot pink tulips.

The Icelandic Poppies are loving the weather and we have them in abundance also.

We have an excellent supply of willows in burgundy, fuchsia, yellow and Curly willow.
We also have enormous curly willow branches.  These are 10 to 12 feet tall.  If you have a special project please let me know and we can cut to order.

Please consult your email and fax for current availability.
